Program Description
This year’s event is for health care professionals who treat people with HIV or with an interest in HIV prevention throughout West Virginia. The priority focus will be on implementing changes in practice to positively impact our state and surrounding areas with an overall goal of Ending the HIV Epidemic.
Objectives
At the end of this program, participants should be able to:
Discuss current HIV guidelines, research, and literature that may guide practice.
Discuss current national and state HIV data, and how this will affect the population.
Recognize strategies and interventions for preventing the spread of HIV.
Describe current challenges to implementing HIV prevention interventions in rural communities, with a focus on WV.
Identify barriers to care seen in rural communites.
Discuss ways to implement changes in practice to more effectively treat people with HIV and those at risk for HIV.
Improve patient care capacity based on current guidelines and discuss clinical considerations through case review.
