Course Description
This clinical didactic training will provide participants the skills necessary to address obesity in patients they support with HIV, supporting the provision of quality care and holistic wellness. In addition to taking part in the lecture, participants will have opportunity to engage in Q&A with a practicing physician on best practices.
Course Objectives
- Learn why metabolic dysfunction (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol) affects patients with HIV more prominently than other groups.
- Learn about best practices and overcoming stigma related to obesity
- Learn about new research related to cholesterol control in patients with HIV
- Learn about an evidence based non-pharmacologic approach to obesity management
- Learn about evidence based pharmacologic tools to supplement obesity management
