Learning Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Outline benefits of initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens for new HIV diagnoses (including rapid ART), counteracting suboptimal dosing, and maintaining engagement in care.
- Demonstrate approaches and tools the clinical care team can use to support treatment adherence, including with clients who have recently received an HIV diagnosis or are struggling to adhere to ART.
- Describe motivational interviewing and its collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change.
- List, describe, and demonstrate the “do’s” and “don’ts” of motivational interviewing that elicit and strengthen motivation for change in people with HIV.

Continuing Education credits issued for participation in CE activity may not apply toward license renewal in all states. It is the responsibility of each participant to verify the requirements of their state licensing board(s).
