The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, West Virginia Regional Partner's mission is to increase providers' capacity to provide high quality HIV/AIDS care within our health care systems. Changes occur rapidly in the HIV/AIDS arena and all interested health care professionals should seek yearly updates to stay current.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Explain HIV transmission, symptoms, and stages of disease process.
- Describe West Virginia HIV epidemiology.
- Explain current HIV prevention methods, including PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis).
- Discuss HIV testing and implementation of HIV testing.
- Discuss the purpose and use of nPEP (non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis)
