Webinar title: Using Motivational Interviewing with People with Opioid Use Disorder
Motivational Interviewing is a non-judgmental, individual-centered approach for achieving behavior change. In this webinar, the presenter will discuss the importance of motivational interviewing as well as demonstrate and discuss two tools for assessing and motivating individuals: the Readiness Ruler and the Decisional Balance Tool.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the importance of Motivational Interviewing as a non-judgmental counseling technique that encourages people to change
- Use the Readiness Ruler which can be used in health care settings to both assess and motivate individuals
- Explore an individual's Pros, Cons and Ambivalence by using the Decisional Balance tool

Series Description:
The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Public Health Training Center have created a six-part interactive webinar series which has been designed to introduce diverse strategies for success in ending the opioid epidemic. Participants will hear from legal, social, medical, and community intervention experts in a strategy-gathering information exchange. The webinars will be an hour in length and will include Q&A as well as audience interaction via polling. We welcome you to join us for the entire series or for individual webinars such as this one!
