The Facts is a hybrid course that provides information concerning the spectrum of HIV disease, HIV antibody testing, and developments in rapid testing, legal issues, disclosure assistance (partner counseling and referral services), risk assessment and reduction, and psychosocial issues. This course will be delivered using synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Session 1 will be at the time listed above during a synchronous virtual session. Then you will be provided links to the VA Train system to complete online learning modules.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Describe the spectrum of HIV disease
Discuss HIV antibody testing options including legal implications, the process of testing, and meaning of the results
Describe partner counseling and referral services in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Describe effective techniques for providing HIV risk assessment and reduction
Discuss implications of HIV infection as experienced by an HIV-infected person
Describe the Virginia Department of Health’s role in the partner counseling, referral, and disclosure assistance processes
