- Review the current epidemiology of HIV and identify the impacts of changing demographics of HIV.
- Describe the interplay of HIV and the aging process within the framework of accelerated and accentuated aging.
- Discuss the physiological changes and common comorbidities associated with aging in people with HIV and the implications for disease management and treatment.
- Discuss the challenges and potential solutions for increasing retention in care for people aging with HIV
HIV Health Equity, Access, and Disparities
- Define health equity and discuss its impact on HIV health access and outcomes.
- Explore interventions to promote HIV health equity within communities, systems of care, and clinics.
- Discuss unique challenges for HIV prevention and treatment in rural areas.
Navigating HIV Stigma and Trauma-Informed Approaches
- Define stigma in relation to HIV and discuss the negative effects & barriers to care.
- Discuss symptoms and impact of trauma.
- Define trauma-informed care and identify trauma-informed practices that support people with HIV.
- Utilize relevant case discussions to provide an understanding of how to navigate behavioral and emotional responses in those impacted by trauma.
