MAAETC Consortium Conference November 2024

Congratulations to the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center's (MAAETC's) refunding for USPHS Region 3 (Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia, and West Virginia). It is our honor and privilege to continue to be part of the response to the HIV epidemic and related conditions for another 5 years with funding from the Ryan White Program, Part F, USPHS, HRSA, HIV/AIDS Bureau, Office of Program Support (Grant # TR7HA53201-01-00).

The MAAETC regional partners met recently to discuss plans and initiatives for this new cycle, and the photo shows many of our MAAETC team members, including clinicians and educators.

Led the University of Pittsburgh, School of Public Health's Professor, Linda Rose Frank, PhD, MSN, FAAN, the MAAETC consortium brings together clinical and educational expertise from academic and healthcare institutions in the region to improve the HIV care continuum for people with HIV and those at risk through training, technical assistance and capacity building.  The map below shows the MAAETC regional partners, including Johns Hopkins University, West Virginia University, University of Maryland at Baltimore, Howard University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Health Federation of Philadelphia, Christiana Care, and Inova Healthcare.

The funding of the MAAETC represents a critical investment in both healthcare professionals and the communities they serve. It ensures ongoing education, workforce development, and the enhancement of HIV care and prevention across the region. Healthcare professionals and interprofessional teams gain access to vital resources, training, and networking opportunities, enabling them to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and trauma-informed care. The renewed support strengthens efforts to close gaps in HIV care, improve patient outcomes, and address the evolving needs of minority and diverse populations, particularly in underserved and rural areas. This MAAETC consortium and all its members are committed to ending the HIV epidemic, fostering a knowledgeable, skilled, and diverse healthcare workforce ready to meet the challenges of HIV and related syndemics.
