This one-day course provides information regarding the HIV service delivery system from a “status neutral” perspective. Topics include HIV 101, HIV testing, navigation, linkage to care, retention, early treatment initiation, PreP/PEP, and the HIV Continuum.
This training is for providers of HIV Services, such as outreach workers, HIV testing counselors, PrEP counselors, community health workers, case managers (Medical and Non-Medical), peer navigators, linkage coordinators, and volunteers.
Upon completion of the program the participant will be able to:
- Understand key HIV epidemiological and surveillance statistics that support the identification of focus populations.
- Discuss HIV testing options including legal implications.
- Describe the HIV service delivery options for people who test HIV negative and those who are diagnosed with HIV in relation to the HIV continuum
- Identify strategies to support early treatment initiation.
- Define and discuss the differences between PrEP and PEP and the implications on focus populations.
- Discuss the various provider roles in the HIV Service Delivery System
