Course Description
As a result of tirelessly addressing the needs and demands of the pandemic healthcare providers experienced unprecedented amounts of fatigue, burnout and vicarious trauma. This didactic lecture will cover the impact of vicarious trauma on the HIV provider and provide best practices to address provider burnout. All healthcare professionals are encouraged to attend this lecture.
Needs Assessment
Pharmacists often experience situations that result in them experiencing vicarious trauma, specifically when working with patients with HIV. This training brings awareness to these experiences and advises on strategies that help mitigate burnout experienced as a result of vicarious trauma.
Statement of goal
The goal of this training is to provide pharmacists and other health professionals who provide care to persons with HIV the information they need to mitigate burnout and vicarious trauma. This will be accomplished by understanding the levels of burnout and how it is experienced by HIV Service Providers; Understanding the impacts of compassion fatigue; strategies to reduce these factors along with vicarious trauma so they may recenter themselves in the work by returning to their inner strength, resilience, wisdom and equanimity.
