The BPHC Prevention Community of Practice (CoP) provides an opportunity for Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQHCs) in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC, to learn from each other regarding increasing HIV testing, diagnosis and prevention, including the provision of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) and HIV/AIDS Bureau support this initiative to partner with Ending the HIV Epidemic-funded FQHCs in the MAAETC region.
As part of this webinar series, Hazel Jones Parker, DNP, CRNP, AACRN, University of Maryland and Rhonda Carr, PrEP Navigator, University of Maryland will discuss best practices to engage patients in HIV prevention discussions and model multi-disciplinary team approach to PrEP engagement.
As a result of attending this program, participants should be able to:
1. Describe the best practices for patient educationabout PrEP.
2. Review examples of patient communication to engage patients to consider their options for HIV risk reduction.
3. Incoporate quality improvement measures to increase engagement in HIV prevention in their healthcare setting.
