About:

The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, University of Pittsburgh Regional Partner, is hosting a dinner symposium focused on best practices in HIV prevention, care, and treatment to address emerging and existing clinical challenges in the greater Erie area. Clinical HIV experts will present content on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and Doxy PEP, while discussing how to promote retention in care and adherence using regional and local resources.

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Approver Unit an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This event is eligible for 3.0 credit hours.

Post-Exposure Care: Key Tools in STI Prevention

2. Explore the indications and contraindications for prescribing Doxy PEP in clinical practice. 
3. Review guidelines for Doxycycline as an STI prevention strategy, including dosing.
4. Discuss recommended clinical and laboratory monitoring following potential exposure to HIV or STIs.
